My Fabulous Face Wash

I've been through numerous face washes in my time- some great and some terrible. It is very rare for me to buy a second bottle of the same face wash unless it's heaven sent. I'm always about wanting to get the next best face wash that tops the other. When I was walking around Walgreens one day and came across the Burt's Bees deep cleansing cream, I fell in love. This cream is 100% natural, with no benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, that leaves your skin cleansed and refreshed. It's main two ingredients is soap bark and chamomile, and it smells so good. I have had no problems with this cleanser because it is so gentle and does not irritate my skin. My face really feels clean when I'm done with it. After years of harsh exfoliators and strong benzoyl products, going natural seemed to be the only solution. After a few weeks with this cleanser, my complexion got so much better with this natural product. I switched my whole skin care regimen to all natural products ever since I picked up this cleanser. I give this cleanser an A+. Love love love.

Pick it up a try it out at any drugstore at around $10. Lasts a long time too.

Good luck,
Daniela

Post-Acne Mark Miracle

Don't you hate that feeling after you pop a pimple and an ugly, red mark is left on your skin? That is my biggest pet peeve. One time I popped this massive pimple and it left the ugliest mark on my face that couldn't even be covered by makeup. I was on a mission- to find a natural way to lighten these marks and make them go away quick. I came across lemon juice and I fell in love. To do this, squeeze a fresh lemon, put it in a little container, and apply a thin layer of the acidic juice on the mark before bed every night. When I did this, the mark was almost non-existent after about a week (or less)! The acid from the lemon eliminates dead skin and promotes new skin growth. It is a MUST!

Warning: If you have very sensitive skin, be careful with this one. The acid can sometimes be too strong and may irritate the skin a little. Always make sure to moisturize the area after you apply the juice. It can make it dry.

Make something good out of lemons instead of making it a tasty addition in your water. Say goodbye to acne marks!

Why I Love Coconut Oil

It seems like the biggest craze lately has been coconut oil and I could not agree with this more. This SHOULD be a craze because coconut oil is a must have for anyone who wants soft, beautiful skin. One time when I was researching homemade masks, one website said to try coconut oil. I thought to myself, "Why would I ever put oil on my face? Wouldn't that make me break out?" Knowing how experimental I am with skin care solutions, I thought I would give it a try. I went to Trader Joes and bought myself a jar of organic extra virgin coconut oil. I put it on my face for a moisturizing mask and my skin felt beautiful! I could tell a difference. Let's get a little scientific here on why coco oil is a must:
  • It contains antibacterial, anti-parasitic and anti-fungal properties.
  • It kills off the bacteria which causes acne to appear.
  • It works as a great moisturizer. Applying the oil to your skin stops moisture from being lost through the pores and increases the moisture levels of your skin.
  • Contains vitamin E- good for anti-aging.
I apply my coconut oil mask about once/twice a week by putting the jar under hot water until the oil melts fully. I put a thin layer on my face and I leave it on for as long as I can (probably around 30 minutes or so). I also put some on my lips too during the mask- great natural Chapstick! Kill two birds with one stone.

You will be a coco oil lover just like me when you try it. Embrace natural products!

Glowing Skin

A lot of people want to know, "How do I get that glow on my face naturally?" That natural glow sometimes get lost throughout the stressful times, cramming for finals, or lack of sleep and proper nutrition. So, how do we try and get that glow back?! All it calls for is a few simple steps.

1. Put some water on your face! Splash your skin with water at warm/hot temperature (not too hot!). Warm water naturally opens the pores on the skin and helps them release dirt and oils, and helps brings blood to the surface. After the pores have been opened, finish it off with cold water. The hot water helps oxygenate the blood and flush the skin. Cold water helps to close the pores, keeping you clean and glowing.

2. Exfoliate people! So many people forget to exfoliate and that is SO essential for your skin to maintain a healthy look and glow! Exfoliating rids your skin of the dead skin cells that are layering on your face that can make your skin look dull. Once you remove those dead skin cells, your face is refreshed, soft, and glowing. I prefer natural exfoliators, like brown sugar or baking soda. Remember not to scrub too hard! Just gentle, circular motions.

3. DRINK WATER. Sounds like such a repeated, over-killed saying, but it is so true! Your body craves water, especially your skin's complexion. Drinking the necessary amount of water each day flushes your body of toxins, and hydrates your skin to make it more plump and glowing. So drink, drink, drink. Avoid sugary drinks- stay pure.

4. Exercise. You will all probably hate me for saying this because exercising is no fun. Personally, I do not like to exercise. It is such a drag to get myself to the gym and run for 30 minutes while staring at a wall. BUT, in spite of the negativity, exercising gets the heart rate going and pumps the blood faster throughout your body. As blood becomes oxygenated, it increases the circulation throughout your body, including to the skin. Whenever I finish exercising, I always notice a glow on my cheeks and I want it to stay forever!

Just a few simple tips to get your skin on the glow train. In addition to these helpful tips, always remember that inner happiness causes a beautiful glow on your face as well. I would count on that the most. :)

Glow on,
Daniela

Welcome Welcome Welcome!

Hello skin care people! Welcome to the blog that will now be your best friend. If you are here, I am assuming you want tips and tricks on skin care beauty, inner beauty and health, or you just want to see what my blog is about. Well, if you are here for any of the three reasons, I promise to not disappoint.

Before we get into the juicy stuff, let me allow you to get to know me a little more. My name is Daniela, a girl with an high interest in skin care ever since the beginning of high school. During my sophomore year, I began to have acne flareups (mild, nothing severe) but still a good amount where it made me self conscious of my skin. With that being said, I wanted to battle it and make it go away. Through this process, I tried numerous methods that worked, and sometimes unfortunately did not. I would make my own concoctions, google information, buy different drugstore brands, buy high end brands, try topical treatments, and so on. Through it all I learned SO much about what worked, and what made the biggest impacts on my skin. Even though I still sometimes struggle with a pimple or two currently, I still make a strong effort to pamper my skin with the benefits that it needs. Can't wait to share this all with you.

So do yourself (and your skin!) a favor and follow me to a future of beautiful skin.
